To compliment other suggestions I recommend lonely planet's Latin American Spanish phrasebook and dictionary. It's not really a self study book but it explains what you need to know in different scenarios. It provides an overview of the language using real world examples and an introduction to grammar and pronunciation. I also recommend a teacher... There are many good teachers on here.

Hello, Marzi. I would highly recommend the following self-study programmes. Audio Programmes: Mitchel Thomas Method, Pimsleur Method. Books: Assimil's Spanish with Ease, Routledge's Colloquial Spanish and Teach Yourself Complete Spanish. Computer Programs: Tell Me More and Rosetta Stone. If you have further questions on how to go about the learning process when studying by yourself, you can text me any time.

Hi Marzy, for beginner level I would recommend to watch cartoons for really small child, so you can start having some notions about the language. Learning only by books when you're beginner is quiet difficult, but there is an publisher house that I really like called Editorial Difusión. They have all their books at their website and some of them have also an online version. Hope I helped you!! PD: If you decided to have lessons with a teacher, check my teacher profile!!
