What's the idiom that means "look for something seriously for a long time"
Something like "I turned land and ocean looking for my lost glasses" but the glasses is actually on my head this whole time.
Is there any idiom close to this meaning in English? I want it to be dramatic to contrast the fact that it's very near me but I don't see it.
Thank you.

Here are a few idioms with the meaning of “long and painstaking search”:
* I searched far and wide.
* I left no stone unturned.
* I turned over every rock.
* I scoured the [room/house/city].
* I search the four corners of the earth.
* I looked high and low.

Blind as a bat would not be the best choice as it implies the item being looked for was in plain sight or easily visible. Glasses perched on top of your head are not being overlooked while they are in plain sight, at least until you look in a mirror.
This may work:
I searched high and low and could find neither hide nor hair of them until I looked in a mirror.

You can probably use the idiom "right under my (very) nose" for that.
This first example at https://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/right+under+my+nose is very much like yours.
