Could you please advise if the following sentence is correct?
我终于决定自己参加比赛了。

What I try to say is - I finally decided to join this competition.
I am mostly interested in whether or not I should use 了 in this sentence. And if I should, what is the right place for it.
(If there are non-了related mistakes in this sentence, I would appreciate corrections too).
