"pay attention" and "turn attention"

Please, pay attention (turn attention) to the sound "e", you should pronounce it softer.

'Pay attention' means 'concentrate' or 'take notice [of something]. For example:
"John failed his course because he didn't pay attention in class".
'Turn one's attention to something' means to change your focus. For example:
"After discussing the economy, the delegates then turned their attention to the environment."
This means that they stopped discussing one topic and started to talk about something else.
