When would you use the corny?
I've looked up the meaning in the dictionary, but still I’m not 100% when should I use it, could you guys please give me a few examples where you would say that someone/something is corny? Thanks!
P.S. Sorry it should be "the word corny" in the title

hello,
I would use "corny" when describing a funny joke that has topics that are related to rural topics or jokes appropriate for children. A short story that has country or rural characters with some humorous topic could be called corny. Animal jokes could be corny. Jokes for children could be corny.
A joke about one cow talking to another discussing milk or cheese would be a corny joke.
A joke about a horse being smarter than a cow, chickens teasing a farmer, or dogs being friends with frogs could all lead to a corny joke. These jokes would NOT have sexual references or swear words. (These would be dirty jokes)
Corny jokes are not long, elaborate jokes.
Corny jokes can have a nice message. They can have a loving message. Corny is an older term. Lately I have heard a term called "Dad Jokes" which might be a newer word to replace "corny". Sometimes references to people with agricultural backgrounds is a hurtful or non-complimentary use of words. Maybe changing away from corn to Dad is a way to not demean people in the farming community.
Here are some examples;
I bought you some gloves. They will come in handy!
What did the right eye say to the left eye? Between us, something smells!
What do you call a duck that gets all "A's"? A wise quacker.
What has ears but cannot hear? A CORNFIELD!
This has been fun. I hope it helps! S.

Hi! This word is particularly difficult to translate in my experience. We usually use it in a situation that is silly, cliché, or unoriginal. The connotation is one of light criticism (not very harsh). I will give examples.
-The plot of that romance movie was cliché with lots of corny moments between the lovers.
-My dad is always making corny jokes that he thinks are hilarious.
-He showed me some of his ideas to propose to my sister, but they were so corny with roses, music, and a very public declaration of love. I helped him come up with a better plan.
-That bakery advertisement with the dancing doughnut was so corny, but it did the job because now I am craving pastries.
-She asked me to prom by writing a romantic poem to me and reading it in front of the class. It was so corny, but I ended up saying yes.
-I had a corny dream last night that we got married on the beach and rode off on horses into the sunset.
-The characters from that children's movie dance around with corny moves and sing silly songs.

Hi ijnfrt!
I am not sure if you have ever heard of the word "cheesy" in English before but they mean the same thing. "Corny" can be used to describe personalities, humor, movies, and other things like that.
Corny usually means annoying, "too jokey",or low quality.
Normally if people call something "corny" it isn't a bad insult but it means that the other person found something funny/annoying.
Examples:
1. Did you hear the joke Alex made? It was so corny, I don't know where he got his sense of humor from.
2. The movie was very corny, the actors were bad at acting.

The word corny is used to describe a cheesy overused joke or overly- sentimental romantic scene. Examples: The ending of this movie was so corny it made me cringe. Childhood friends who lose contact for 20 years run into each-other, fall in love, and live happily ever after is a corny story line.
