Jackie Chan is Cantonese, his wife is Taiwanese (speak mandarin). They has been together for a long time. I assume Jackie Chan speak and sing perfect Cantonese and Mardarin. The pronounciation between the Cantonese and Mandarin is not the same, some characters has to be changed to match the melodies. So, the meaning and/or wording in that song is not 100% compatible.

Hey nicole, guess what? Your question could be fully answered here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantonese_(Yue) And I guess the term "mutually unintelligible" in that article (between cantonese and mandarin speaker) explains a lot.

hi, hi nicole, I believe that aside from having a difference with the vocab, they also differ with the tones. Cantonese has 6 tones while Mandarin has 4. The writing system (chinese character) is the same though. :)

Cantonese is one of the dialects of Chinese. Cantonese only has a spoken form which is different from Mandarin Chinese. Its writing form is also the same Chinese characters. Now many people are learning Mandarin Chinese.
