Are both male and female lions have manes
Chinese people believe both sex of the lions have manes. But, I believe only the male lions have manes and I was honestly telling the truth in according to my best knowledge. But it was wrong. Do you agree that the female lions also have manes. Addition
Thanks your the answers, but, Chinese has been misleaded by the Scholars that both sex of the lions have manes. In US, there are lions at the MGM casino in Las Vegas, it is free to watch. But, the problem are those Chinese in China are still misleading, they don't want to accept the fact. Two lions with manes, they call it male and female lions (左雄右雌) and they even claim it is the ancient chinese tradition !!!

I'm not sure whether a lioness got a mane or not.I wouldn't object go to zoo and investigate the case.=) Probably she doesn't have, though.

Hello Wozitoya,
The males do have manes, females don't !
When I was a child I thought always that the lions with manes were definitely females , drawing an analogy between lions and humans, where it is prevalent for female humans to have long hair ;)
Check the following:

Only male lions have manes as they help protect their necks. However they are also great for attracting mates since large manes are a good indicator of power and health. Manes also give male lions a more dominant and threatening appearance.
