Regret to say, but 'active', 'fighting' or 'struggling' are all wrong. Indeed, 'energetic' is a good synonym; or 'full of life; lively.' At times it can mean 'strong' as well. But be careful with those synonyms again, because when it means 'strong,' it only does so in a very narrow sense of the word, like: "strong (as the result of good health; hence 'healthy')," and not 'strong' as in being able to fight well in the schoolyard!
