My feeling is that any genuine religion must have impact on our daily lives. If it does not change anything, then it isn't much of a religion. HOWEVER, I think that religious people and non-religious people explain their actions differently. For example, if the question is "Why not murder people you hate?" A Christian might say, "God says I must not." A non-religious person might say "If people start killing people they hate, then surely somebody will soon kill me. That would be a bad rule." Or, simply, "I am not a murderer." Or, even, "I don't want to go to prison."
