1.) dark, gloomy, and cheerless.
2.) obscure or thick with mist, haze, etc., as the air.
3.) vague; unclear; confused: a murky statement.
If someone said, "That place looks so murky," it means "That place looks obscurely depressing or gloomy."
Air or water can be described as murky if the water was dark and unclear. For example, muddy or dirty water can be murky.
A phrase that someone says can be "murky," meaning that it is incomprehensible or lucid. For example,
You: What are you doing?
Me: Something
You: What is that something that you're doing?
Me: Stuff
You: Be more specific.
Me: Nothing important.
You: Gosh, stop saying such murky responses.
