What's the meaning of "five-finger"

The only English idiom I can think of is "... five-finger discount."
A "discount" is a reduction in the price of some item, as in:
"All shoes are on sale at a 20% discount."
And so, a "five-finger discount" is how a shoplifter describes how much he paid for an item -- zero. That is, he concealed it and left the store without paying. When asked by friends how much he paid, he just replies, "Five-finger discount."

To steal something. When you steal, you grab the item with your hand - five fingers.
"I got this hat at a 5 finger discount at the store!"
There are different meanings in different countries, but in American English, the above is the common usage.
