bi- as a prefix comes from the latin root 'bi-' meaning two, twice;
so bimodal has the meaning of two modes, as already explained above.
Other bi- examples:
binary system: system for representing numbers based on two numbers (0, 1)
biannual: occurring twice a year
bicycle, bidirectional, bisexual

"roll-out" means to introduce something new, like a new car rolling out of the factory.
"bimodal" "bi" = two (for example, "bicycle") mode = form so bimodal means two forms. So the introduction of e-learning have given the students the opportunity to use a two-part system.
