Slang is a form of non-standard English (or any other language) that is commonly used instead of the standard word. Ex: You could say you have a "five o'clock shadow" instead of saying your beard is growing back.

To clarify: "Slang" itself is a type of word.
To use the word in a sentence, you could say: "I'm unfamiliar with that slang." etc.

Slang :
A type of language that consists of words and phrases that are regarded as very informal, are more common in speech than writing, and...
Basically a certain way people speak with slurred or improper words. For instance: Wat up. Correct term: What's up? It's also like broken english.

If you also mean "how to use slang expressions?", here's some advice:
1. Use it only after someone has already said it to you.
2. Don't assume everyone knows and uses slang in the same way, even if they are in the same city. It's very, very regionally and culturally influenced. When in doubt, stick with standard English.
3. Learn it only as you encounter it.
