KARAOKE TO MASTERY: How the Filipino Karoake Culture helped me master English.
Growing up in the Philippines, karaoke was more than just a weekend pastime; it was a way for me and my friends to bond while singing our hearts out to English hits. Every neighborhood had its own karaoke spot, where the sounds of familiar tunes spilled into the streets. Each time we belted out a song, I found myself picking up new words and phrases without even realizing it. The catchy tunes made memorization easy, and before long, I was confidently using expressions I had learned from lyrics in conversations.
Karaoke not only improved my English skills but also gave me a sense of community and fun in the learning process. The laughter and encouragement from friends made practicing feel less like studying and more like a celebration. Finding joy in the learning experience has been a key! What about you—what helped you master a language?
