Forfeit means to loss or give something up because you have done something wrong or neglected it. An example would be if a player forfeits their gaming access because they used cheat codes. They chose to break the rules and in doing so forfeited their privilege to play.
Confiscate means to take/seize something by authority. An example could be when a parent confiscates an item from a child. The parents being head of the household determine house rules, and hold the position to enforce them. They therefore, have the authority to seize any objects they deem contrary to the health of the child, home, or family.
