I saw a couple of common Mallard ducks swimming in a storage pond yesterday afternoon, on the way home. It was so peaceful seeing them swimming under the sunset. The pink water of the pond reflected the Mallard ducks beautiful. Common Mallards are water birds that migrate both in the U.S. and China. They often fly from the north to the south parts of the earth, even flying though different countries .Common Mallard ducks are called “绿头鸭”(Lvtouya in Chinese Pin Yin), and their international name is “Anas platyrhynchos” which is used in academic researches. It’s head is green and they have a yellow beak. The top of its neck is also green with a white circle as it the feathers attach to its body . In Chinese 绿=green, 头=head, and 鸭=Ducks or Mallards. This is where its Chinese name came from.
