Today is the third day of the lunar chinese new year. Just like last year, I took my child to Taipei children's amusement park. They won't be as excited as before, as they are growing.

Phrases work better placed directly next to whatever it is that they modify. The dependent phrase "just like last year" modifies "took", not "I". Placing it next to "I" is not a serious error. Nobody will be confused by its meaning, but nonetheless it is stylistically poor. That is why I destroyed your dependent phrase and turned it into an independent clause, "Just as I did last year". Since the independent clause stands on its own, it is less important to put it next to "took".
