It literally blows my mind how much preparation and care Jovann brings to our classes. I sent him a book chapter, and not only did he read it, he also prepared a whole lesson based on the book. It would not be fair to expect this much unpaid time from a teacher, but it certainly gives me the sense that Jovann's motivation is based on a true avocation for teaching and love of helping others. I am a demanding student (business owner with a PhD), so you can trust if I say he exceeds my expectations, that it is a high bar! I also appreciate that while he is a native Spanish speaker, he has lived many years in the US and thus can provide me with context and explanations that come from shared experience with US culture.

Another great class with Jovann! I really appreciate the time he took to listen to a Cuban song I was interested in and write down the lyrics to the song because the lyrics are not available online. We went over the song lyrics in our class and Jovann explained any lyrics I did not understand. I love Cuban songs so understanding the lyrics to Cuban songs is very important to me and helps me understand Cuba better. I really like my classes with Jovann because he is a very knowledgeable teacher and prepares lots of materials for our classes. Jovann is also a lot of fun to talk to about a wide variety of things. Thanks so much for another fantastic class, Jovann!

Great lesson today with Jovann. He has helped me to progress in my Spanish fluency. We worked on grammar topics related to past, present and future tenses and the subjunctive mood. Wow, I just had my first lesson, and I was SO impressed with Jovann. Without a doubt, he is one of the most sophisticated and strategic instructors I have encountered not just on Italki, but anywhere. Within our first 60 minutes, he led me through a thorough (and painless!) assessment of my level. He gave me a ton of positive feedback, which really helped me relax into our conversation. The suggestions he provided were also on target and delivered in a manner that communicated respect for all the work that I have put into arriving at my current level.
