Mona

Mona is a one of a kind tutor. She's been tutoring me for one year now and she always comes to every meeting with high energy and enthusiasm to teach. She has lived in many different places in Jamaica so she is very knowledge about all the different parishes and has personal stories to tell about each one. She is very kind and honest and makes learning patios very fun! She will make you read, write, and speak patios as well which really helps me learn it at a fast rate.

One of the language learning goals I set for myself in 2022 was to better understand how English is used in different parts of the English-speaking world. Since Jamaica is one of those countries I'm interested in, I started looking for a Jamaican English teacher who could help me with my studies. It was then when I found Mona's profile on italki. I can honestly say that she's one of the best teachers I've ever had the opportunity of learning from; she is knowledgeable and professional, friendly and helpful, as well as patient and understanding, she always listens to the needs of her students and has a great sense of humor too. So far we've covered a wide range of topics, and in addition to helping me with my English, she has also given me an insight into Jamaican culture and Jamaican Creole/Patois that I can't thank her enough for that. Mona is a great teacher! She’s patient with your learning and really makes sure you 1.) understand the construction on the language 2.) are detailed in your pronunciation and 3.) have a fun time while learning

She has been my teacher for a year or 66 lessons. I learn a lot of her. She is a native english speaker and a good, patient, funny Tutor. I love her accent. I´m saticfied and want to continue with her.

This was my first lesson with Mona and I’ve learned so much in the course of one session. I’ve learned greetings, how to respond, pronunciation as well as gained a lot of insight into Jamaican culture. Can’t wait to book another lesson!

I have attempted to learn languages in the past, but have never felt as confident in my abilities to do so as I do now after just one lesson! Mona is a wonderful and thorough teacher and I will be scheduling many more lessons moving forward. She makes sure you understand the connections and differences between languages and also makes sure you are getting the pronunciation down.
