Nevena

Nevena is, quite simply, the best language teacher I've ever had in my life - and I've studied many languages with many teachers. Of course, she has a deep knowledge of Serbian (and I'm sure Greek) grammar and vocabulary, and can answer even very complex or detailed questions. But what really sets Nevena apart isn't just her knowledge. It's her flexibility, her kindness, and her clear concern for her students. I have my own way of learning. Rather than trying to fit me into her style, Nevena has helped me hone my own approach and encouraged me in my own interests in the language. She is also an extremely kind person, and that comes through in every lesson. She is clearly committed to helping me (and I'm sure all her students) reach their goals in difficult languages. Finally? Nevena is fun. She's got great energy, every lesson, every day. I look forward to each lesson. If you're looking to learn Serbian or Greek, I don't think you'll find a better, more committed teacher.

Nevena continues to support my language-learning with her effective, well-structured lessons. Her explanations of the grammar and lexicon, especially, include helpful cultural contexts that strengthen my sense of immediacy and engagement with the Greek language and its speakers. Each time we meet, I am reminded of the reasons that I began learning Greek in the first place and what compels me to keep going 🌅.

I’ve had many lessons with Nevena and couldn’t be more satisfied. She is an outstanding language teacher with a deep and nuanced understanding of the Serbian language. She explains grammar clearly and thoroughly, and is able to answer even complex questions in a way that is easy to understand. One of the things I appreciate most is how clearly she speaks – this makes listening comprehension much easier. She also creates a positive and encouraging atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable speaking, even as a beginner. Her lessons are very well structured: she documents everything in a shared Google document, which allows for easy review and long-term learning. She also asks thoughtful and interesting questions that stimulate conversation and vocabulary growth. Thanks to Nevena’s support, I’ve significantly improved my ability to speak Serbian, and I look forward to every lesson. I can wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone serious about learning the language!

Another superb Greek lesson with Nevena!

Learning Greek with Nevana is a great experience. She is very good at explaining the different nuances of the sounds of the alphabet (since I'm starting from scratch, we are starting with the alphabet first) and gives good examples and encourages you to speak from the beginning, which is fantastic. Don't be intimated by that as she helps you along the way. She's clearly very passionate about teaching and very knowledgeable too. She definitely comes prepared with a plan of action and has lots of great resources. I think it helps too that she herself learned Greek many years ago so she understands the perspective of a Greek student. I definitely recommend and will be booking more classes with her for sure!
