Another fun class with Yoshi sensei! I really like how we mix up my lessons so I'm always being challenged to learn new skills. Today, I practiced giving a presentation in Japanese, which was both fun and challenging. I especially appreciate how Yoshi sensei always provides thoughtful feedback and introduces new vocabulary to help me improve. I always leave each class feeling like I've learned many new things!

今日は尊敬語と謙譲語について学びました。市販(しはん)の日本語の文法書では、尊敬語の作り方の一つとして「れる・られる」が紹介されていますが、今回のレッスンで、この形はあまり使われないということに気づきました。 また、「ご確認しました」よりも「確認いたしました」のほうが自然な表現だということも学べて、本当に勉強になりました。先生、次のレッスンもよろしくお願いいたします！

I can really feel myself improving! I so appreciate Yoshi-sensei's patience and his ability to clearly explain things to me. Highly recommend for beginners or (if you're like me) someone who is rusty and is looking to get back into studying Japanese.

Speaking two languages while growing up was something I really took for granted, because as a child it was effortless. Nowadays, I am much older and took up Japanese on a whim while recovering from a surgery. Learning a third language is the most rewarding and enjoyable hard work I have had in a long time. I love it, and Yoshi is no small part of my Japanese adventure. He's always upbeat, easy to speak to (luckily for me), and makes things very clear. Honestly, I leave his lessons with more enthusiasm for learning this incredible language. Take it from me, I am retired public high school principal and college professor, this is what the best teachers do for their students! ヨシさんありがとうございます！

Yoshi has done a very good job of increasing the level of conversation during our lessons as we've progressed through the material. He finds ways to perform knowledge checks with questions that feel natural and is very encouraging even when correcting improper usage. I like the balance between textbook work, materials he provides between lessons and in-lesson conversation.

Yoshi sensei was very encouraging and easy to talk to, even in my broken Japanese. I’m looking forward to learning more from him in the future.
