Born in Athens and currently living in Greece, I teach both ancient (Attic) Greek and modern Greek. Fluent in French and in German, I have some basic knowledge of Russian and Spanish; and I'm a beginner in Mandarin Chinese. I've got literary degrees from Harvard (where I received a BA and a distinction for translation into Attic Greek) and from the Sorbonne Nouvelle (where I received an MA in translation). I also have a Master of Arts degree in Economics from San Francisco State University and a PhD in philosophy from Université Paris 8. I worked many years as an English translator for the United Nations system.Mostrar traducción

Language teaching I thoroughly enjoy and I have considerable experience in it. I am interested in teaching persons committed to mastering Greek - to varying degrees of course, but on a solid basis. (If you only seek to acquire some Greek expressions for tourist travel, that is wonderful, and I wholeheartedly wish you a very good time - but I am not your man.)
NB: I teach Ancient Greek with the international, Erasmian pronunciation or, if the student prefers, according to the current Greek phonation.Mis clases y método de enseñanza

Jordan’s passion for the Greek language and culture is truly marvelous . They have a remarkable ability to break down complex grammar and vocabulary into understandable parts, making a challenging subject feel accessible and engaging. Their lessons are always well-prepared and interesting, and they consistently go the extra mile to support students, patiently answering questions and offering encouragement. Iordanis is a true expert at Ancient Greek. His level of expertise and general breadth of knowledge is extremely uncommon and a real gem for someone like me who desires to learn Ancient Greek well. I deeply appreciate his thoroughness and patience as I frequently have questions about words, their meaning, and all the factors that go into fully capturing the best translation of the text. Iordanis is very patient and reliable: quick to listen and clear in his structured analysis of ideas. It’s an honor for me to have been learning from him these last few months.
I would highly recommend starting a program with Iordanis if you are looking for this kind of excellence.
