Lucía Rodríguez

Lucia is a fantastic Spanish teacher and language partner! She is very personable, patient, and skilled with beginner language learners like me. Our sessions are almost completely conversational, which is perfect for my hands-on learning style, and are always fun and engaging! She is well-educated, and the variety of complex topics we cover really helps develop my vocabulary and my ability to construct sentences and thoughts. She corrects grammar, provides study material, and is highly punctual and reliable. I have personally noticed an improvement in my Spanish since our time together, and I continue to look forward to every lesson. I highly recommend Lucia for anyone learning Spanish, one of the best teachers I have met on Italki.

Another great lesson! Lucia is always very patient and caring. She really is an excellent teacher—because the best teachers are always learning at the same time as they teach—practicing the principle of “docendo discimus” as espoused by Seneca the Younger.

Today Lucia and I discussed Portugal and the poetry of Fernando Pessoa, especially with regard to the development of the history of Portugal from 1140 to its fall in 1578. Next time we plan to discuss how, after the Iberian unification in 1580, Spain became so confident that it considered conquering China (with a detailed proposal by Alonso Sanchez)…

Lucía is an enthusiastic teacher and a great conversation partner. Her charisma, confidence, and passion for teaching were evident from the first lesson! She is intelligent and well-read, which enables her to converse on a wide range of topics. She also has a great sense of humor, which really makes the time fly during our conversations. Her corrections are timely and well-delivered, so that I never feel embarrassed about making mistakes. As an intermediate Spanish speaker I seldom choose to participate in structured activities with my tutors, but she piqued my interest by offering me materials that were specific to my interests. I am very happy to have met Lucía, and I look forward to spending a lot of time with her.
