My name is Tayvin and I am enthusiastic about language learning. I studied Linguistics and Japanese at Brigham Young University before taking a break to live in Japan. While in Japan I lived all across the Kansai Area and on the Island of Shikoku. I learned to speak, read, and write in Japanese and have come to believe that the most important part of learning a language is to speak and interact with native speakers of your target language. I have two years of teaching experience with the GOEIGO Mission School and have helped people of all ages prepare for tests, for a study abroad, and for everyday conversations in English. I look forward to helping you reach your English goals!

Yo como profesor
I have experience teaching English to people of all skill levels. I will be able to help you improve whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced learner.
I prioritize improving conversation ability by learning the most important words for communication. Consistency outside of the classroom is also key to improvement, so in addition to conversation practice, we will work together to find books, podcasts, and other media that will help your work on your comprehension outside the classroom.
Mis clases y método de enseñanza
Conversation based lessons, we will work together to determine the best areas to focus on during lessons.

老师会很好的引导你去输出,表达;氛围也很轻松友好;课程也有详细的安排,说是会有少量的家庭作业,我很喜欢这一点,这让我觉得学习的内容不止停留在课堂上。He is wonderful teacher,he will leads you to communicate and have detailed arrangements for the course. My favorite point is that will be a small amount of homework, which makes me feel that the course is not limited to the classroom.

Tayvin is a great and genuinely interesting person. He has decent video and audio quality, which is important. That being said, there are a few areas that could be improved. In my opinion, a teacher’s job is to encourage the student to speak—not just to listen. This is especially true for high-level students who likely already get plenty of listening practice from YouTube and other sources.
Ideally, the teacher should set their personality aside and focus entirely on the student, chiming in only when necessary. The ideal teacher talking time (TTT) to student talking time (STT) ratio would be around 20/80. However, with Tayvin, it was mostly him talking, and I only got to respond briefly with a few sentences here and there.
Of course, I could take the lead and carry the conversation myself, but that’s not my role as a student.
