Hi! My Chinese name is Jia Han and my English name is Maria. Please feel free to use either. I’m from Beijing and have lived in the U.S. for three years.
In our lessons, we will focus on practical, everyday Mandarin conversation. I will adjust the pace and materials to your current vocabulary level, and we will build your speaking step by step with useful words, sentence patterns, and real-life topics. I also give clear feedback on pronunciation and tones to help you speak more naturally and confidently.

Yo como profesor
English is my second language, so I truly understand what it feels like to learn and speak a second language. Sometimes it can feel awkward, and you may not even know where to start.
Chinese tones are one of the hardest parts of learning Chinese. I understand how frustrating it can be when you know the words but the pronunciation does not sound right. That’s why I’m very patient, and I pay close attention to accurate pronunciation. I will help you build a strong foundation and speak more clearly and naturally.
Mis clases y método de enseñanza
My lessons focus more on speaking and real-life communication than on memorizing characters. We learn Chinese through guided conversations and real scenarios, and we build vocabulary naturally while you speak.
We can practice daily situations like ordering food, traveling, small talk, or workplace communication. If you are preparing for a Chinese proficiency exam, we can also practice speaking tasks and structured answers, with vocabulary and sentence patterns that match your goal.
