Tengo 2 años de experiencia enseñando cantonés. He ayudado a expatriados y estudiantes de intercambio a mejorar su pronunciación y gramática cantonesa.
Después de tomar mis clases, ahora tienen más confianza para comunicarse con sus amigos y colegas locales. Algunos de mis alumnos sólo sabían "nei5 hou2" al principio, pero ahora pueden hablar con sus vecinos, sus taxistas y los recepcionistas de los hoteles totalmente en cantonés.

Leer, escribir, hablar y escuchar son las cuatro destrezas fundamentales del aprendizaje de idiomas.
Creo que se puede aprender a leer o escribir cantonés a partir de libros de texto y recursos en línea, pero hay que empezar a hablar para adquirir fluidez. Suelo sugerir a mis alumnos que se centren en hablar en clase. Les ayudaré a mejorar la pronunciación, la gramática y la fluidez. Si lo desea, puedo utilizar el sistema de romanización Jyutping o Yale.
A veces me gusta que mis alumnos escriban una historia en cantonés. Así pueden utilizar nuevo vocabulario y estructuras oracionales. Verán cuánto han mejorado cuando sus historias sean más largas y complicadas con el tiempo.

Stephen is super nice, attentive and delightful to talk with. He asks good questions to encourage me to speak, taking notes in the meantime, and after I finished my sentences, he lets me know my good choice of words and mistakes I made. He also elaborates certain points to me so that I know how to use a word in various contexts. Thank you Stephen for the fantastic first lesson and I will definitely book another one!

Stephen is incredibly patient and supportive. In our first lesson, he helped me learn new words and especially helped me with pronunciation (which is the most important thing in Cantonese!). I felt safe to make mistakes and learn from them with his help. I almost don't want to recommend him to anyone because I'm afraid he will get so popular with new students - he's so good! I'm sure he will become a favorite teacher of any student who takes his classes.

Very impressed with my first lesson with Stephen. He is professional, encouraging and a HK native speaker which is quite different from the other Cantonese teachers on this platform. If you want to learn HK slang and sound like a native HK speaker, it is quite important to learn from a HK native speaker in my opinion as there are certain terms that are used in HK but not Guangzhou.
