Sophie is an excellent teacher. She is very good at facilitating learning opportunities. The class pacing and overall ambience was just right for me. Altogether, I am very satisfied and looking forward to continuing to learn with Sophie 老师.

I had a great first lesson with Sophie! She was well-prepared, her teaching style is engaging and encouraging, her materials were excellent, and she was especially helpful in correcting my tones. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to study Mandarin.

TLDR: I'm in the infancy stage of Chinese. She provides an extremely safe and flexible lesson environment, quick and active feedback pronunciation-wise, personalized vocab sheets, and gets you talking a lot in the language! Sophie is a fantastic language teacher! I am within my first month of learning Mandarin Chinese, but have previously attained conversational fluency in French. I have found that the best sign of a language teacher is that both: 1. The lesson time flies by AND 2. You were speaking the target language almost the entire time. The second one is not a given as a beginner, but is so important. Sophie makes sure you're always trying to speak and gives such good feedback anytime you attempt to speak. Her lessons are 100% customized for you, and always sends a list of all the new words with their meanings & pinyin afterwards. Personalized reviews in the beginnings of lessons and she is *always* ready to answer cultural questions as well as random language questions. :)
