Soy un nativo chino con herencia japonesa que vive en Colorado, EE.UU. desde 2009. Hablo chino, japonés e inglés con fluidez. Soy un lingüista apasionado y he aprendido muchos idiomas, incluyendo latín, griego antiguo, swahili, finlandés y sueco. Enseño chino y japonés desde 2010.

Yo como profesor
Tengo dos másteres por la Universidad de Colorado: Lengua y Civilización Japonesas, y Lingüística. El primero me proporcionó una amplia formación en traducción, interpretación y análisis literario desde perspectivas históricas y modernas. La Lingüística me ofreció la base teórica y práctica para la enseñanza de una lengua extranjera. Me interesa especialmente la aplicación de estrategias fonéticas y fonológicas a la enseñanza en el aula con el fin de preparar a los alumnos para una pronunciación e intuición similares a las de un nativo. Soy hablante nativa de chino mandarín con herencia japonesa. Con la formación educativa mencionada, soy capaz de enseñar ambos idiomas. Mis clases y método de enseñanza
Creo que el aprendizaje de idiomas debe ser divertido tanto para los alumnos como para los profesores. No importa si quieres perfeccionar tus conocimientos de chino o japonés después de varios años de aprendizaje, o si quieres empezar de cero sin ningún conocimiento previo, ¡yo puedo ayudarte! Seré un facilitador del aprendizaje de idiomas para animarte a ser el centro de tu propio aprendizaje. Te guiaré a través de la complejidad de las gramáticas y los diversos aspectos de las situaciones conversacionales, y haré que tomes la iniciativa para digerir los conocimientos. En mis clases se incorporarán materiales visuales, auditivos y multimedia, y se utilizarán métodos lingüísticamente informados para garantizar que su comprensión y sus habilidades sean sólidas, firmes y cristalinas.Mi material didáctico

I don't normally write reviews after having done a couple lessons with a teacher, but what I had with Jack today was MINDBLOWINGLY good. He definitely deserves at least twice what he gets here for today's lesson!
We had speaking practice and thanks to Jack's expertise in phonology, he looked up what sounds are available in my language and compared them to Chinese. Then he helped me practice and explained how is it that even if I hear the difference between his and mine version, both are correct. The explanation had pretty much an academic aspect to it, so I'm super glad I got a linguistics graduate as a teacher.

Jack is EXCELLENT. His genuine enthusiasm about language learning is infectious! Re: Chinese pronunciation (which was the most intimidating part of learning Chinese for me), Jack gave detailed explanations about tongue placement which helped me a lot. Looking forward to the next one. :)

Can't say enough great things about Jack as a teacher. He is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I am sure that his unique skills as a linguist further contribute to helping me understand not just the "what" of Chinese, but more importantly the "why" and "how". Thanks for another great lesson!

Jack is such an incredible teacher for students of all levels. His teaching style encourages you to generate sentences and ideas on your own, which eventually builds your confidence. In addition, he makes a concerted effort to engage students about the content that is most applicable to their daily life. Through storytelling, he is able to give context to the words and sentence structures in the lesson which makes his class such an enjoyable experience. I have seen such a massive improvement in my vocabulary skillset and confidence in such a short amount of time! Could not recommend enough!
