I came to Shinnie after struggling to find motivation and progress with self study. From the very first lesson with him, I blew past what I had been able to achieve with textbooks and online resources, and felt so empowered and rewarded by the results of his unique method. Shinnie's focus on teaching grammar in order of the most commonly used allowed me to start free talking faster than I thought possible. He's firm when it comes to having the right approach to lessons and study, because he's truly committed to my success, but gentle when I feel nervous or overwhelmed and helps me simplify the process and focus on the right things when it feels like too much. Every lesson feels like comfortably talking to a friend, yet he interjects new grammar patterns and vocabulary, as well as reinforcement of everything we learn, seamlessly. Shinnie's lessons and unique method for studying truly feel like the most natural way to acquire a language, without stress or blind memorization. 감사합니다 선생님!

I have been having lessons with Shinne for a year now. Shinnie is patient, respectful and passionate about his students learning. When I thought I wasn’t progressing he showed me how much I have learned and helped restore my confidence. Shinnie has taught me how to study successfully again using his proven methods and my self-confidence has grown. I know Shinnnie teaches people with ADHD, stuttering, mental illnesses, and disabilities as I have some of these conditions. However, he has never discriminated against me and has been truly dedicated to my Korean learning. I have tried learning with other Korean teachers who have given me false compliments which I did not find productive. Shinnie has helpfully pointed out attitudes or habits that have hindered my progress and he is always honest about my skills and goals. You can trust him and just follow his guidance—without overthinking or false delusions. Shinnie is an excellent, top rate teacher. If I can do it, you can too.

I had another wonderful lesson with Shinnie. His teaching style is easy to follow and when he explains things in Korean it is always in a comprehensible way. The lessons are always fun, interesting and engaging. One thing I particularly enjoy is that his lessons are structured with his own curriculum, but that he is free to change it according to your needs. We have started doing mainly conversations nowadays, and even though my speaking is nowhere near as fluent, he is really patient and makes me feel comfortable. Which allowed me to have more confidence in my ability to speak and hold at least some small conversations (I think). Besides that it’s good to discuss my findings during immersion with Shinnie, because he has a great understanding of the language. Overall, I would highly recommend Shinnie to anyone looking for a Korean tutor on italki. They are knowledgeable, patient, and adept at tailoring their lessons to the student's specific needs and interests.

시니 씨.. Thank you another really productive lesson! I am now in my second year of learning with Shinnie and my confidence is growing well thanks to his methods, advice and guidance. I am enjoying not only learning the beautiful Korean language and through constructive advice I have learnt how to study again. I find Shinnie to be patient, thorough and highly respectful and I am very grateful that he offers honest feedback rather than telling me just what he thinks I want to hear. His extensive experience of teaching those with health issues has also been invaluable to me as he understands where my strengths are and helps me to improve in areas where I am weaker such as my memory. Shinnie's tips have really helped me and I feel more confident after each lesson. My lessons with Shinnieshi are always fun and engaging. My growth has expanded overall regarding my Korean language skills from speaking and listening to native speakers. He does a great job in making sure you have the ability to speak, read and listen to Korean language.
