I 100% recommend taking lessons from Cande. Each lesson is taught using comprehensible input where she reads through a short story (usually 100% in Spanish) and along the way incorporates new vocabulary in a way that helps me acquire the vocab instead of just boringly memorizing (and then forgetting later) a translation like I did while I was in high school. After reading, we go through and discuss the story where I get to practice my conversational skills in a casual, stress free setting. Conversations are personable, and always in a setting where it feels like talking with a good friend so there’s low pressure. I’ve enjoyed learning more about Latin American but specifically Argentinian culture from her. I can definitely feel myself progressing after each lesson and finding Spanish to be more natural to understand and speak.

Cande is an AMAZING teacher and I always look forward to our classes! Cande has a really fantastic approach to teaching and offers me the time and space I need to express myself (or try to) in Spanish. When I get stuck, she is very encouraging and provides explanations and practice exercises where needed. I have a much higher reading and writing level than I do speaking and listening, so these casual conversation classes have been really valuable. After only a few classes, I started noticing my confidence increasing! Some days we will catch up and chat like you would in any social interaction in the community, and other days we will have more structured classes to ease any doubts I have about verb conjugation, sentence structure, idioms etc. Something I love: We've gotten into the habit of reading my daily tarot card in Spanish which is a super enjoyable way to learn new vocabulary! I have had now over 23 lessons with Cande and I am glad I picked her when I was searching for teachers. She ticks all the general must of an online teacher (punctual, good internet etc.). What is great about her, is that she understands and caters to my pace of learning and pushes me (when necessary) to the point where I really need to start thinking. And I like how easy it is to talk to her, that way the classes are something I look forward to even if I know learning a new language will make my brain hurt hahah
