Hi!
I’m Marie from France. I’m a French native speaker born in France but I lived in bilingual Canada for 15 years and became a Canadian citizen in 2008. So, I speak perfect standard French and I am a native-like English speaker.
I started my career in business but moved to teaching in 2000. I have been teaching French and English for 22 years now and have a great experience in teaching people from various ages, cultural backgrounds and learning styles. I’ve helped hundred of students to achieve official language exams with a success rate over 90%. Today, I’m teaching on Italki and have wonderful experience with my students.Mostrar traducción

I am enthusiatic, approachable and strongly committed to facilitate your learning experience. I deeply care about creating a friendly and safe classroom atmosphere in order to raise your self-esteem and confidence and make you feel comfortable to participate. It doesn’t take me long to determine your learning style and adjust my teaching methods to your needs. I’m also very responsive to your learning pace.
My teaching style is pretty much task-based. I think you can make the most of our time together and learn more deeply if the activities we are doing make sense. My teaching methodology is quite ecclectic. I believe your exposure to authentic materials is the best way to develop your communication skills. However, I may use more guided methods if necessary. I always tailor my learning plans to your needs. I use a wide range of authentic resources and multimedia in order to make our class both fun and challenging. I've specialized in English and French phonetics since my Master thesis was based on a comparative analysis between both languages. This year, I am finalizing a Master Degree in Didactics of Languages – French as a Foreign Language - which keeps me at the cutting edge of the latest research in language teaching and learning.Mi material didáctico

Another excellent class with Marie. Marie is very personable and helpful. My only concern after a couple lessons is that the half hour sessions we have are not long enough. I wish we could have more time together! This is not a criticism of Marie. I think the limited availability is a product of how in demand her teaching is. I only hope that at some point I will be able to have hour long classes with her. Half hour classes are a bit too short for my learning style and for our more casual, semi-structured meetings.

I had an excellent trial lesson with Marie. She helped guide me through my thinking and speaking, tested my level to gauge where I am, and will prepare me materials to take home as homework to work on for next sessions. I felt very comfortable and encouraged, I didn't feel rushed, and will be booking further lessons with her
