My name is Lawrence, but I go by LJ. I won't talk a lot about myself here. We'll learn a lot more about each other in our lessons. But for now, I want you to know that I'm 25 years old. Born and raised in the United States, I speak English natively. Currently, I live in beautiful upstate New York, about an hour north of New York City. I have loved learning languages and exploring new cultures since I was very young. But when I am not studying, I spend my time pursuing art, primarily photography and filmmaking, but dabbling in things like cooking and music and even writing. Life is simple for me. I never like to get too comfortable in one place, doing only one thing.

Having taught online professionally for over 5 years, I've learned a lot about how to learn and how to teach. I don't consider myself a teacher, necessarily. More of a guide, helping students to unlock what they already know and are able to learn on their own, and use it to reach their goals in the most efficient (and fun) way possible. I'm flexible, allowing each student to maintain much of the control over what we focus on in class. I'm easygoing, and love to laugh, so there's never any need to worry about me being upset or strict when you make a mistake. I've made plenty, both in my native language and ones that I'm learning. It's all part of the process and we trust it.

I have four courses that focus on different areas of the English language, so lessons will vary depending on what you want to improve. However, there are lots of similarities allowing for my teaching to be consistent. I'm big on immersion, so in almost all of the lessons, we'll use native level content to do things like increase vocabulary, better understand grammar, and increase conversational fluency. I believe all lessons should flow smoothly, so instead of stopping the lesson every time you make a mistake, you'll receive a review after the lesson that discusses what you did well and what we still need to work on. Sometimes, depending on the topic, I'll give homework.

I had a really great time with Lawrence. He's very friendly, smiley and joyful! He makes you feel relaxed and comfortable while speaking a new language. Also, he's very prepared on the topic of learning a new language. He has a method that makes you progress fast along your journey of acquiring a new language.
