Jennifer Chen

I have been taking lessons with Jennifer for about 3 months now; and I can’t say enough positive things about her. My Chinese lessons have become trice-weekly high points that I eagerly anticipate. My assessment of Jennifer is from the perspective of being both an anxious learner and a fellow language teacher (ESL). As a teacher, Jennifer, keeps each lesson focused and productive so that you finish the class feeling your time has been well spent and enriched with new knowledge. We cover a lot of information, but always at a pace and level that is comfortable for me. She is, also, very skilled at gently challenging you to trust in what you know and to present it. I am often surprised at what I can actually say, and have also retained, due to her engaging personality, and our lively interactions. I don’t expect to become fluent quickly, but I do feel very confident that I will get to a level of satisfying proficiency, sooner than I had believed, before starting my lessons with Jennifer.

Mrs. Chen is a very kind and patient teacher. She doesn't bring me down and if I get something wrong in fact she encourages me to try it again and again until I fully understand. With her help I have progressed a tremendous amount and I couldn't have done it with out her patience and motivation. She mixes playfulness and learning together like no other teacher! Overall I am so thankful for Mrs. Chen and she has helped me become such a great Chinese speaker!
