Me llamo Valeria y soy profesora profesional de italiano. Poseo un certificado CEDILS para enseñar italiano a extranjeros, un doctorado en Estudios Asiáticos y tengo más de 10 años de experiencia docente tanto presencial como online.
Me he especializado en la enseñanza a personas de habla china que desean estudiar en Italia, a profesionales europeos que trabajan para empresas italianas y a jubilados apasionados por la cultura y los viajes.
Tengo un sólido conocimiento de las metodologías de enseñanza que he desarrollado a través de mi experiencia como profesora en China y en el Reino Unido. I adapt my lesson according to your interests and needs. In every lesson you will find something interesting and stimulating.
I teach general, academic and business Italian. I can also help you prepare for language exams.
My communicative approach allows the students to speak without inhibitions. I use authentic materials which reflect different aspects of everyday life.
I usually start with a written text, a video, or an audio recording, then I focus on vocabulary and grammatical analysis. Finally, with a role play you will be asked to “act” in a simulated situation according to the topic just studied.

Máster - Comparative StudiesI graduated in Comparative Studies (Chinese and English) with 110 cum laude. I discussed a thesis about the poetic and narrative works of Hai Nan, a contemporary Chinese writer.

Doctorado - Asian StudiesOn May 2010 I defended my doctoral thesis about contemporary Chinese women s’ poetry. The focus was on definitions, models, and developments of poetry written by Chinese women writers starting from the ‘80ies. The analysis of their poetry aims to identify shared features in their artistic growth, in particular, the passage from a writing which emphasizes gender awareness, typical of their previous works, to a literary style more focused on language experiments.

Substitute Teacher of ItalianI gave lessons of Italian language and literature to classes of 20 adults at elementary and intermediate levels twice a week. I also provided supervision and support to students for their MA and BA theses and presentations.

I created and organised a semester course focused on some aspects of Western Culture such as celebrations, gastronomy, the Education system, in order to deepen their knowledge of European life and society.

I gave lessons of Italian language and culture at Nanjing Normal University. I promoted the Italian culture in China, building contacts with both Chinese and Italian Institutes, and presenting Italian Universities at Education fairs and conferences in China.

Mandarin Interpreter and TranslatorI worked as Mandarin Interpreter for the University and the Confucius Institute of Naples at conferences, events and festivals.
I was one of the organisers of the first edition of the cultural festival “Milleunacina”. I was responsible for logistics: rooms setup, reservations, decorations, as well as coordinating artists for readings, exhibitions and conferences. I also introduced Chinese literature as a panelist of the festival.

Besides comprehensive review of homework, Valeria makes space for students like me to express their ideas, especially if they're difficult ones and require a lot of patience and guidance. I want to be able to talk about subjects of personal interest, and I don't always have the vocabulary to do so. After my lessons with her, I come away with more knowledge about new words and grammatical structures.

In addition to reviewing materials, Valeria proved herself to be a responsive teacher. The Italian subjunctive is hard to master, so she assigned more practice with this tense and gave me a say with the next homework. I still do the work, yet apply my knowledge with my own sentences.
