Shu

Shu-sensei is an excellent teacher. He is very friendly, and he made me feel comfortable from my first class with him. Thanks to his tailored lessons and homework assignments, I am making good progress. I highly recommend Shu-sensei to anyone wishing to learn Japanese.

Shu Sensei, is an excellent teacher. He has tailored his lessons to my needs as someone who is working towards developing their Japanese quickly. He is very flexible and understanding about changing the lesson structure to best work for me as a student. We are able to learn new words, explore grammar, practise pronunciation and have conversation time. I look forward to continuing lessons in the future.

Shu Sensei is an excellent teacher. I cannot recommend him enough to everyone who is considering taking Japanese classes! Before taking classes with Shu, I had put hours upon hours into studying Japanese, but had no confidence in my speaking or listening abilities. In the last few months after taking classes with Shu, I feel my Japanese has improved tremendously and I am much happier with my current speaking ability! Shu has a great teaching style in which he gives you plenty of time to speak, patiently corrects any mistakes, and asks questions often to make sure you continue to practice and learn more Japanese. In every class. you will get the chance to speak extensively as well as get reading and listening practice. He also assigns homework which provides additional writing practice! Overall, I feel my Japanese has greatly improved because of Shu, and I would recommend him to everyone. I myself plan to continue taking classes with him for the foreseeable future.

I’ve had Shuu-san as a teacher for 20 classes now and I’ve been extremely happy with my progress. He creates an environment where mistakes are welcome and encouraged. This is especially true in the start of the class where we have some light conversation in Japanese. It allows me to try out new words or ask questions that don’t come up when we’re just studying Genki. He’s clearly very prepared and able to pivot if needed to. For example, when I told him I was headed to Japan earlier this year he switched the course work from Genki to a separate doc that he had prepared around useful phrases, questions, and signs in Japanese. Thanks to Shuu-san I can definitely say that my experience in Japan was better because I could more confidently talk and ask questions. My goal is to continue studying with Shuu-san so that whenever I go next I will be ever more comfortable. I would highly recommend Shuu-san as a teacher to anyone looking to learn Japanese!
