Pius Ntinya

A great lesson with Mwalimu Pius today! We covered a lot of ground, from book review to various cultural topics. Mwl. Pius always provides deep insights into the language and culture of Tanzania and beyond.

Pius was friendly and calm. We had a very good first lesson in which he taught me greetings and some basic vocabularies. I look forward to more lessons before my trip.

Today's lesson had a lot of variety. We looked at words that look similar but have very different meanings. We read/sang some poetry (Mwalimu Pius is even a great singer!) and also discussed various topics as they came to mind. He is very flexible and can help you with whatever your Swahili learning goals are.

We had a good lesson and I learned verb conjugations: to be and to have. It was useful to see the patterns between different tenses and persons. Thank you!

Mwalimu Pius is such a great teacher. He strikes a good balance between asking questions and giving his own opinion, so there's good opportunity for speaking and listening practice. He always makes the conversation interesting as well.

Mwalimu Pius is a Swahili master! I wanted to learn about Swahili poetry. He explained the history of it and how there are different types. He explained the origin and importance of Taarabu and provided links to some fascinating videos of it. We dove into some hardcore Swahili poetry which was very interesting. He's such a great resource for all things Swahili.
