Aki

We had a lovely time talking about calligraphy and I learned a lot of vocabulary related to that! Also some grammar that happened to come up. I really appreciate that Aki-san takes time after the lesson to write out sample sentences using that vocabulary and grammar that I can use to review!

I am really impressed with how intuitive Aki-san is- she always picks up on the things that I'm struggling with, even if I don't realize what they are. Then she knows exactly what to do to help me improve. Additionally, she does all this while still having a fun and engaging conversation! ありがとうございました！また次のレッスンを楽しみにしています！

I think I talked a lot today! 話しすぎました！I had a wonderful time talking about my Japan trip and also about how much Aki's conversation lessons help me to understand and speak more and more Japanese. And also to have the confidence to just speak it everywhere in hotels, the post office or just standing in line. Whenever someone can't speak English I can speak enough Japanese to get by and have lots of fun traveling Japan.

A really fun lesson with Aki talking about daylight saving time and how it’s handled differently around the world, the kinds of books we enjoy reading in different languages, and the fascinating etymology of words and how some words in different languages sound similar but mean something completely different. As always, such an engaging and entertaining conversation!

Such a fun lesson with Aki! We talked about phrases you learn when studying a language that you never actually end up using, the different nuances of “stubbornness” in English versus Japanese, and how hilarious it would be if it were literally raining cats and dogs. She’s always such a joy to learn from and consistently gives thoughtful, incredibly helpful feedback.
