I've had 10 lessons with Xu Laoshi, who is a great teacher. As a beginner, our lessons are structured around the HSK1 syllabus. On top of this, she gives additional exercises like matching words and sentences with pictures, etc. There are lots of opportunities to read out loud and speak, in a calm and friendly environment. Xu Laoshi is particularly good at adapting to individual student's needs -- sometimes we go a little faster through some material, while other times she slows down to focus on parts where I have trouble (e.g. pronouncing "x", "ying" vs "yin", etc.).
