Xiao Shenglan

Lessons with Shenglan are amazing. She is really organized and engaged in class, and is very patient and supportive with corrections and explanations. I don’t think I have ever had a teacher who is so active during class asking questions and driving the conversation in order to make me produce more, and then continuously noting my errors while I am talking so we can review them later. Every lesson is a real joy to attend, and I get great feedback on what to improve for next time.

She really makes sure the student has understood in depth and puts great effort in her lessons. I highly recommend her to beginners and advanced students. :)

Shenglan is an excellent teacher - one of the best I had during the last 10 years! In the beginning, I mentioned that my main goal is to improve my speaking. Shenglan took note of this and is extremely good at guiding the conversation in such a way that I speak as much as possible - which is brilliant. Whenever I struggle with a word, she is able to help me very quickly by helping me express my thoughts correctly (I never have to explain what I mean). Shenglan's Youtube blog is tremendously helpful, as it can serve as a platform for our conversations (besides being super interesting in its own right). In just a few sessions, I have felt my Chinese speaking skills improve! The Chinese lesson with Shenglan is always the highlight of my day.

I'm currently undertaking the HSK structured course with Shenglan as my tutor and it's been a great learning experience! The lessons follow all the aspects of the HSK structure and each lesson is tailored to address any specific areas whereby improvement is needed. Shenglan is highly knowledgeable, friendly and above all very patient with your learning as she really wants you to succeed. 加油 She provides lots of interesting facts regarding modern and ancient China and provides helpful information regarding the derivation of characters to help you memorise them. Shenglan provides detailed feedback and a copy of the presentation after each lesson. She also tailors video and app recommendations in order for you to continue to improve during self-study and will even provide bespoke learning materials for you to use. Shenglan really goes the extra mile and I highly recommend her to be your Chinese tutor whether you are an absolute beginner (like me) or at an advanced level! 谢谢 老师!
