The End of Boiling Lobsters Alive? In 2018, Switzerland became the first European country to ban cooking lobsters alive. Similar regulations have been in place in New Zealand, and the United Kingdom and some Australian states are considering following suit. Studies suggest that lobsters are sentient, they have complex nervous systems and respond to pain similarly to humans. In Switzerland, lobsters must be stunned or knocked out before being cooked. I totally agree with that. It’s a moral decision, because otherwise, I would feel guilty. Proponents of traditional methods argue that boiling lobsters alive ensures freshness and minimizes the risk of bacterial growth. However, humane alternatives like electrical stunning can ensure nothing less. It’s all about the cost, isn’t it? I personally believe it’s a good deal to pay a little bit more to let them suffer less. After all, it’s a luxury food. In conclusion, the trend towards banning boiling lobsters alive reflects a growing concern for animal well-being. There’s no reason to continue a practice that may cause unnecessary suffering.

How does your country / culture define beauty? I have recently rewatched an old TV play that played 30 years ago. The TV was about Yang Yuhuan, who was one of the four most beautiful women in Chinese history. The story happened during the Tang dynasty. If you once visited Xi'an where was the captial of the Tang dynasty, you might have appreciated these marvelous murals exhibited in the museums. In the pictures, we can see the women who lived in the Tang Dynasty. They were very charming and each of them featured a chubbiness figures. Chubbiness was thought as one of the most important definitions of beauty during that period. So, you can picture what the main character of the TV play looked like. The role was very famous, so she was shown in many other TV plays and movies. However the actresses later gave up gaining weight to play that role better. A slim figure is even the only definition of beauty at present. I don't want to say more about this topic. Please enjoy the pictures below and confirm your defition of beauty. Since highschool I've tried different hobbies, but if I think about long lasting ones that helped to build my self and personality, I just have few in my mind. Of course reading is my "eldest" hobby: when I was 7 I fell in love with Harry Potter saga and since then I've found in books the chance to know different worlds, stories, characters and lives. In the last year I've been attending a book club in a public library and I discovered the pleasure of shearing opinions, discussing about books and thoughts. Also, with my best friends, we have started our book club (we are now reading the third book of the list). In 2018 during my Erasmus experience in France, I've started practicing yoga. At the beginning it was just a way to move my body and relax but gradually I noticed the benefits of this discipline. Last year I've started a yoga teacher training and in one year I'm going to be a yoga teacher! I'm so excited to know everyday more about yoga in its physical, spiritual and mental part! I'm also really interested in the connection between health, sustainability and respect for nature. It's exciting fo me trying to improve my life style every day by eating vegan food, buying local products, using my bike and public transports. Since I became more financially independent I also had the opportunity to travel more, especially to countries that are really far from Italy. Last year I went to India, Iceland and New York; I'm about to come back from a roadtrip in Scotland and I'm planning a trip to Mexico with a friend in December. Discovering new places and cultures is one of my passion!
