في أحد أحياء المدينة،
كان هناك مقهى صغير.

ليس مشهورًا،
ولا فخمًا،
ولا يلفت الانتباه.

طاولات خشبية قديمة،
كراسٍ غير متشابهة،
ورائحة قهوة لا تتغير.

عندما بدأت الحرب،
أُغلقت المحال واحدًا تلو الآخر.
الشوارع فرغت،
والأبواب أُقفلت.

إلا هذا المقهى.

في الصباح،
كان صاحبه يفتح الباب كعادته،
يمسح الطاولات،
ويشغّل الغلاية.

لم يكن يفعل ذلك تحدّيًا،
ولا شجاعةً خارقة،
بل عادة.

كان يقول:
“إذا أغلقتُ المقهى،
فماذا بقي طبيعيًا؟”

كان الزبائن قلّة.
رجل مسنّ يجلس قرب النافذة،
شاب يكتب في دفتر صغير،
وعامل يطلب قهوته ثم يرحل سريعًا.

أحيانًا،
كان صوت الانفجارات قريبًا.
فتسكت الأحاديث،
وتبقى القهوة ساخنة.

لم يكن المقهى مكانًا للكلام عن الحرب،
بل مكانًا للهروب منها.

هنا،
يتحدث الناس عن أشياء بسيطة:
سعر الخبز،
مباراة كرة قدم،
ذكريات قديمة.

ومع كل يوم يمرّ،
صار المقهى شيئًا آخر.

صار علامة.
دليلًا على أن الحياة
لم تستسلم بعد.

حتى عندما انقطعت الكهرباء،
أشعل صاحبه شمعة.
وعندما نفدت القهوة الجيدة،
قال مبتسمًا:
“المهم أن نجلس معًا.”

لم يُكتب عن هذا المقهى في الأخبار،
ولم يظهر في الصور.

لكنه بقي مفتوحًا،
رغم كل شيء.

لأن بعض الأماكن
لا تعيش بالجدران،
بل بالناس…
وبالإصرار الهادئ.

Walt Disney is known for creating some of the most beloved children's movies in history. But his path to success wasn't a direct one.

Born in Chicago in 1901, Disney's journey began in 1923, when he moved to California to make cartoons. He made a series of silent cartoons called Alice Comedies, which became successful and led to the founding of the Walt Disney Studio.

In 1927, Walt Disney created a new cartoon character called Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and made 26 short films with him in just one year.

However, when Disney asked for more money to continue making them, he discovered that his distributor had secretly hired his animators to make Oswald cartoons without him. Worse still, Disney didn't own the character of Oswald — the distributor did.

This setback forced Disney to create a new character. And that's how he came up with his most famous creation — Mickey Mouse. Mickey first appeared in the 1928 movie Steamboat Willie, and became an instant hit.

Disney then made the world's first full-color cartoon, 1932's Flowers and Trees, winning him an Oscar for Best Short Subject.

Building on these successes, Disney began working on his first full-length movie in 1934 — Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Over 300 people were involved in making the movie, including animators and artists. It went four times over its budget, and some dubbed the movie "Disney's Folly," believing it would fail.

But it didn't — when it was released in 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs became the highest-grossing film of all time, although it lost that title two years later to Gone with the Wind.

Walt Disney passed away in 1966, but his legacy lived on. His company continued to release successful animated movies like The Little Mermaid and The Lion King, and now also creates successful computer animated films like Frozen and Moana.

Hi havia una vegada, un nen que era venedor de gorres i volia vendre les seves gorres al mercat d’un poble proper. El dia que es celebrava el mercat, va travessar el bosc amb una cistella penjant del braç plena de gorres vermelles. Després d’una estona caminant es va notar molt cansat per culpa de la calor. Va decidir tombar-se sota un arbre molt gran. Va deixar la seva cistella a terra i es va adormir. A l’arbre hi vivien dos micos que van baixar i van agafar-li totes les gorres que  portava a la cistella. Quan ja les tenien totes, van tornar a enfilar-se a l’arbre. Quan el venedor de gorres es va despertar, es va sorprendre en veure la seva cistella buida. Va buscar les seves gorres per tot arreu, sota de la roques, a les branques dels arbres, però no les trobava per enlloc. Després de molt buscar, va descobrir que els micos que vivien a l’arbre les portaven posades. En veure els micos amb les seves gorres, es va enfadar molt i va començar a cridar i insultar-los: “lladres, brètols, torneu-me les meves gorres”, però lluny de cedir, els micos no podien parar de riure veient al venedor tan vermell i enfadat. Després de pensar una estona, els va explicar amablement als micos perquè necessitava tant les seves gorres, i els va prometre que si li tornaven totes, els regalaria una com a agraïment. Llavors, els micos, sabent que les gorres eren tan importants per al venedor, les van retornar. El venedor els va regalar una, tal i com havia promès.

Some animals have been known to use tools such as sticks, rocks and even bait to hunt for food. And humpback whales have been found using their own unique tool to hunt — bubbles.

A study published in Royal Society Open Science in August observed the hunting behaviors of more than 70 humpback whales in Stephens Passage in southeast Alaska, documenting how the whales blow bubbles to catch more prey.

Humpback whales hunt for krill — small, shrimp-like creatures that are around the same size as a paperclip, and which swim in swarms.

Whales can take in large amounts of krill in one mouthful. And to make this easier, humpback whales trap swarms of krill in "bubble nets" before feeding on them.

The whales create these "nets" by releasing air from their blowhole as they swim in circles below the surface of the water. The bubbles rise in a spiral pattern, which, from above the water's surface, looks more like artwork than a tool for hunting.

The rising bubbles create "curtains" of air around the krill that they are reluctant to swim through, although researchers aren't yet sure why this is. The whales then swim up through the "net" with an open mouth to eat the trapped krill.

The study data showed that as a whale swam in tighter circles and the "net" got smaller, the krill caught inside became, on average, more than seven times denser. This allowed the whales to catch more krill in a single mouthful.

A whale doesn't have to move very fast to create a net or eat trapped krill, allowing it to get more food without using any more energy.

While not many other animals create their own tools to catch prey like the humpback whale, there are examples of animals using other tools to hunt.

For example, chimpanzees have been observed using sticks to dig for bugs, while sea otters use rocks to open mussels. Certain species of heron have even been found to use food as bait to attract fish.
