不过：连词，用在后一分句的开头，表示转折，对前一分句的意思做补充、修正。
例如：我本来想当医生，不过我发现自己更喜欢教汉语。
不过：也可以做副词，表示“仅仅”，强调比较少、比较小。
“不过”在委婉地提出意见或表示拒绝时常用, 多用于口语；而“但是”表达转折的语气更重一些。

lakh: 1 lakh = 100 thousand, Indian currency
IVF: in vitro fertilization, when the egg is fertilized in a lab to create life
manure: horse dung, used to fertilize crops
impregnate: to make pregnant
DNA: genetic code
gig: a job doing a stage performance
Down Syndrome: a genetic disorder
cops: police officers
Hindi: language spoken in northern India
deliver: to give birth
delivery room: the room where a woman gives birth

fair: having light skin

オランダにあるFairphoneという会社はユーザーが自分で修理できるスマホを開発しています。今まではスマホが壊れたら買い換える人が多かったと思います。しかし、自分で壊れたところだけを取り替えることができるようになると、資源の無駄を最低限にすることができます。さらにこの会社のスマホは構造が簡単なので、特別な知識がなくても自分で壊れたパーツを取り替えることができます。
ちなみに最近、アップルも電子機器を修理する知識のあるユーザー向けに交換用のパーツの販売をアメリカで開始すると発表しました。
私はスマホだけでなく他の電子機器も自分で修理できるようになればいいと思います。
