苏南：大龙，谢谢你帮我搬家。

大龙：别客气。哎呀，饿死了，我们吃饭吧。

苏南：我也又累又饿，我们点外卖吧！

大龙：你想吃什么？米饭还是面条？

苏南：米饭或者面条都行。你点吧！

大龙：我上次吃了一家面条，很不错。刚才我看马路对面也有一家分店，非常近，应该很快就能送来。你想不想试试？

苏南：那你点，我微信给你转账。

大龙：不用，我请你。我打开“饿了么”看看。

苏南：你喜欢用“饿了么”？哈哈，我更喜欢用“美团”。

大龙：我两个都用。最近因为“饿了么”有红包，所以我经常用它。哎，为什么它说不能送？

苏南：我看看。哎呀，因为你没有换地址，这个分店送不到你家那儿，你把地址换成我家的。

大龙：难怪呢。现在好了，它说20分钟左右送到，还不要配送费。

苏南：对了，你有没有备注说不要放蒜？我不爱吃蒜。

大龙：我记得你不爱吃，所以写了不要葱也不要蒜。你要什么辣？这里有不辣、微辣、中辣、特辣。

苏南：我要微辣。

大龙：好，下单了。对了，我还有几家好吃的餐厅，要不要发给你？

苏南：好啊，谢谢！

Être accro, qu’est-ce que ça veut dire ?
« Être accro » vient du mot accroché. On imagine quelqu’un qui ne peut plus se détacher d’une chose, comme s’il était collé, piégé, suspendu. En langage familier, cela veut dire être dépendant de quelque chose.

Exemple concret :

Je suis accro au chocolat. → Cela veut dire que tu ne peux pas t’en passer, tu en as envie tout le temps.

Il est accro à son téléphone. → Il passe ses journées dessus, comme si c’était vital.

Elle est accro aux séries. → Dès qu’elle commence une saison, impossible de décrocher.

Mais attention, « être accro » ne s’utilise pas seulement pour des objets ou des habitudes. On peut aussi être accro à une personne.

Il est complètement accro à son copain. → Il ne pense qu’à lui.

Il y a une nuance intéressante : « être accro » peut être positif ou négatif.

Positif : Je suis accro au sport, ça me fait du bien.

Négatif : Je suis accro aux jeux vidéo, ça prend tout mon temps.

Dans le langage courant, on trouve aussi des variantes :

Un accro → un nom qui désigne une personne dépendante. Exemple : C’est un accro du café.

Accrocher → verbe plus neutre, mais parfois utilisé dans l’idée de séduire ou captiver. Exemple : Ce film m’a vraiment accroché.

Alors la prochaine fois que tu sens que tu ne peux pas te passer d’une chose… demande-toi : « Est-ce que je suis juste passionné, ou est-ce que je suis carrément accro ? »

നീ — familiar. Used downward or with intimates. As a learner, avoid it.
നിങ്ങൾ — respectful. Your safe everyday form.
താങ്കൾ — formal and elevated. Writing, speeches, careful professional speech.
അങ്ങ് — the highest. Elders of standing, persons of great respect, formal correspondence.

WHERE THAT SITS IN THE WORLD
Pronoun ladders are among the best-studied things in sociolinguistics. French has two, tu and vous. German has two, du and Sie. Spanish has two. Russian has two. Brown and Gilman's famous paper on the pronouns of power and solidarity showed these systems everywhere encode two things at once — relative status AND relative closeness. Whether you move up or down the ladder tells the listener both how much you respect them and how near you consider yourself.

Malayalam has four levels where Europe has two. Japanese and Javanese have more elaborate systems still. **And English has one.** English collapsed thou and you into a single word about four hundred years ago and has been improvising with names, titles and tone of voice ever since.

So a Malayali choosing a pronoun is doing a piece of social calculation that English simply does not require. Which is why you should stay HIGH on the ladder: you cannot do the calculation yet, and being slightly too respectful costs nothing.

ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട respected · ദയവായി kindly — recognise it on signs, do not use it in conversation · ക്ഷമിക്കണം I beg your pardon · അനുവാദം permission · സഹകരണം cooperation · അഭ്യർത്ഥന an earnest request, stronger than ordinary asking.
And the closings: നന്ദിയോടെ with thanks · വിശ്വസ്തതയോടെ yours faithfully · സാദരം respectfully.
