italki Smart Lessons: Turn Lessons into Summaries and Practice
italki Smart Lessons create a written summary and personalized practice exercises from your one-to-one lesson in the italki Classroom. They are based on what was covered during the lesson, so you can focus on the conversation and review key points afterward.
What are italki Smart Lessons?
italki Smart Lessons are automatically generated lesson summaries and personalized practice exercises based on a learner’s one-to-one lesson in the italki Classroom. After the lesson ends, both appear on the Lesson Detail page. They are created from what was actually discussed during the lesson, not from a generic syllabus.
Smart Lessons are available for eligible lessons that take place in the italki Classroom with audio recording enabled in Privacy Settings. They also require a teacher who supports Smart Lessons and a supported language. Smart Lessons help learners review key points and keep practicing after class, without having to take detailed notes during the lesson.
What you get with an italki Smart Lesson
Every Smart Lesson produces two things: a Lesson Summary and Lesson Practice. Some parts of each are available with italki Plus.

italki Plus adds error corrections, idioms, and fixed expressions to the Lesson Summary, AI Roleplay based on the lesson context, and unlimited vocabulary and grammar practice.
How italki Smart Lessons Work
Smart Lessons are created in three steps: choose a teacher who offers Smart Lessons, take your one-to-one lesson in the italki Classroom with audio recording enabled, and review your Lesson Summary and Lesson Practice after the lesson.
Choose a teacher who offers Smart Lessons
Not every italki teacher provides Smart Lessons. Look for the Smart Lesson label when browsing teachers, or ask a teacher you already work with.
Join the lesson in italki Classroom with audio recording
Smart Lessons are generated only when the lesson takes place in italki Classroom and audio recording is turned on in Privacy Settings.
Review your Smart Lesson after class
After an eligible lesson ends, your Lesson Summary and Lesson Practice are generated automatically and appear on the Lesson Detail page. Lesson Practice may not be available if there is not enough lesson content to create meaningful exercises.
Find a teacher who offers Smart Lessons
Smart Lessons are not booked separately. Book a lesson with a teacher who offers Smart Lessons, and the summary and practice will follow after the lesson.
