「目をかける（めを かける）」
意味：特別にかわいがったり、期待を寄せて世話をしたりすること。

「目をかける」と聞くと、直訳では「目玉をどこかに載せるの？」と不思議に思ってしまうかもしれませんね。

この言葉の由来は、「特定の相手に対して、視線や意識をしっかりと注ぐ（かける）動作」から来ています。
