説明
Level B2 (approx. band 5.5-6.5) · Academic and General Training In a Task 1 process or map, what happens matters more than who does it. "The beans are roasted." "A car park was built." Many learners avoid the passive or build it wrongly: "The beans roasted", "A car park was build". In Task 2, a formal pattern such as "It is believed that" is also useful. In this episode: • How the passive is built • When to use it, and when to add by • It is believed that: reporting passives • The passive in task 1: processes and maps • Model • Language bridge • Practice • Self-check questions with answers Key points: • passive equals be in the right tense plus a past participle. • use by only when the doer adds real information; verbs like rise and happen are never passive. • "It is believed that" and "X is expected to" report views formally without naming anyone. • use present simple passive for man-made processes, and past or present perfect passive for map changes.
