Hi everyone! After a long hiatus, I am gradually participating in the community again. Today, I'd like to share five useful idioms with you. Feel free to comment your thoughts below :) 1. Ahead of the pack - to be in front of, faster than or more advanced than other people or organisations doing the same thing. Examples: a) With this plan, we can get ahead of the pack and gain some significant market share. b) When hiking, it is important not to get too far ahead of the pack but to wait for everyone to catch up on you. 2. By all means - of course, certainly, please do so. Examples: a) By all means, feel free to help yourself to the drinks. b) By all means, don't let me stop you from taking a look at the posters here. 3. Fit in - to get along well with people in a certain culture or environment. Examples: a) Amy has fit in well with her colleagues in her new company. b) Peter had some trouble fitting in with his new classmates, but soon made some good friends. 4. Once in a blue moon - not often, rarely. Examples: a) He only drinks alcohol once in a blue moon. b) She is generally punctual and is only late once in a blue moon. 5. Sticking with - not choosing something new but going with the familiar. Examples: a) I am sticking with my usual choice and ordering rum and raisin ice-cream. b) What do you think about sticking with this supplier for 2026?
Which idiom do you find most useful and why? Feel free to comment below, especially for "Sticking with" as only four options are allowed for polls!
