Fishing without a Rod (concluded) (continuing) In the very beginning, there was no fish at all because the splashes had scared them away. But before long, around the bottle a little guy sneaked by. Then you found there were already a school of agile creatures that were trying to get the food from the bottle. Even at this moment, you still needed to keep silent and hold your breath. Soon, a brave guy darted into and got a bite. Then it slipped away at once. Don't worry about the lucky guy who had fled. You learned that more fish started trying to rush in and get a share. As many fish struggling to nibble those lures, you just moved slowly forward and in a flash charged down to the bottle, meanwhile covered the opening with your hand then picked it up. Since the mouth of the bottle was toward you, when the fish scampered off toward the deep side in a hurry, there was no way at all. Most of them became your reward of your patience. As soon as you caught some you had better keep them in another big bottle or pail to keep them alive. Besides fish, if you were lucky, you might capture some small shrimps which were pretty active, jumping up and down. Sometimes we caught many special fish that looked wonderful with pink, red and yellow colors. None of us knew what their name was, so we just called them rainbow fish. All of us liked keeping them home as pets. But kids were never good keepers, just in one week none of them could survive. We didn't kill them intentionally neither fiddled with them, however, we didn't know how to feed them and how often to change the water. Losing those fish wouldn't make us sad very long because we knew that at another weekend we could get more and enjoy our time again. Fishing without any professional tools but a simple bottle is really fun. Recently, I often go fishing this way with my little daughter. When the delight ripples in her simple, lovely face, there is a sound echoing in my mind, as if I has come back in time and I was young, playing, splashing, and fishing with those fellows, laughing and joking, as the wind whistled through the willows next to the river, taking our laugher far and far away.

At the end, you started to write the verbs in present tense. I think you should keep the whole paragraph in present tense so the reader feels the past "becomes" the present when you "go back in time" in your memory. Nice ending for the story!
