If your offer had come a little early, I would gladly accept it. I waited, but I didn't receive your answer too long and I decided I didn't pass assessment.

Help!

Madam Alina,

I am grateful to the staff of the Citibank that they have paid attention to me, but interest and consideration given by your institution for my application for the above position [In such a formal letter, the formal headings for the bank, the titles of the people will have already appeared earlier in the page.  Therefore it is better not to repeat the names here.  It would be construed as an insult to their intelligence or put yourself not in a savvy light] unfortunately, It is unfortunate that I can't am no longer in position [this is a more humble way of saying "I cannot"] to accept your offer. as I have already accepted another one.  already job. If your offer had come a little early, I would gladly accept it. It is with great regret that your offer did not come sooner as it was an ideal position that I was looking for.  [This is a round about way of what you really wanted to.  You don't want to say things too bluntly and burn your bridges behind] I waited, but I didn't receive your answer too long and I decided I didn't pass assessment.

Even though we may miss our opportunities this time, I am sure that perhaps in the future, we may enjoy a fruitful relationship.  Once more I thank you for your kind consideration.

Help!

Dear Ms. Alina (last name would be good to put here),

I am very grateful for the staff at Citibank and their personal attention towards me but unfortunately, I am unable to accept your offer. I have already accepted  position with a different (company, bank, etc). If I would have received the offer a little earlier, I would have gladly accept it. I waited for awhile but I didn't receive an answer for some time and so I figured I didn't pass the interview.

Note: Try to avoid using ¨you¨ too much in a formal letter. It sounds a little too accusative. Try to keep it nuetral or switch the focus to yourself.

By the way, nice work! It´s always good to send a letter to a company. If things don´t work out with your new position, you can always try going back to Citibank later. Good luck!
