A Letter Asking for a recomendational (FWC)
Here is the situation. We worked with FIFA Staff during the FIFA World Cup 2018 for a couple of months and we would like to get a reference, so I'm writing a letter to a guy who worked with us pretty much every day and we usually got a good response from him. I've never written such a letter even in Russian, so I'm pretty bad at this. I would much appreciate any of your suggestions for writing this letter, guys.
Hello, Emanuel,
This is Tania from FWC, Radisson Royal. I hope you and your family are doing fine! I am surprisingly good, though I didn't get a real regular job yet. Usually I get depressed when everything is over, but this time things are different, maybe it's all because of realising how big this project was and the fact of me taking part in this event will stay with me and our team forever.
Anyway, I'm getting to the point. Me, Kate and Sasha are wondering if there is any possibility to get a recomendational letter from FIFA (triple cuckoo's* who were ready to work all day all night, still remember?). We will be more than happy to get a recomendation. It really means a lot to us. Thank you in advance for letting us know about your desicion.
Thank you for all your support and believing in our team! You were always there for us. It really made us live through the whole thing!
Best wishes and good luck,
Tania
*he called us cuckoo's, hahaha

The tricky thing is that the tone of your letter is very casual and informal, whereas most requests for a reference will be more polite. It's difficult to recommend certain changes because none of us will understand the unique dynamic you have with this person, or if you can truly get away with certain lapses in formality.
